The SR 400 Express Lanes project is being delivered through a collaborative partnership that includes:
- Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT)
- State Road and Tollway Authority (SRTA)
- U.S. Department of Transportation
- SR 400 Peach Partners
As the largest infrastructure investment in Georgia’s history, this project will add new dynamically priced express lanes along a 16-mile stretch of SR 400 from the North Springs MARTA Station to McFarland Parkway. The express lanes will deliver more reliable travel options and reduce congestion along a corridor that serves as a vital link between businesses, workforce and communities.
The addition of express lanes will:
- Improve travel time reliability and reduce congestion
- Provide a more predictable commute through dynamically priced lanes
- Enhance connectivity across Fulton and Forsyth counties
- Support continued economic growth along a major employment corridor
- Improve regional mobility as part of Georgia’s Major Mobility Investment Program
The project is designed to ensure that both express and general-purpose lanes operate more efficiently, benefiting all users of the corridor.

Multimodal & Future Mobility
The SR 400 Express Lanes project is designed with the future of transportation in mind.
Key features include:
- Dedicated support for express lane transit (ELT) operating within the express lanes
- Connections to MARTA and regional transit systems
- Planned investments in transit infrastructure and stations along the corridor
- Improved east-west connectivity at key interchanges
These elements position the corridor to support more diverse transportation options and long-term regional growth.
In December 2025, True North 400 secured a $2M grant from the Atlanta-Region Transit Link Authority to advance conceptual design and preliminary engineering for first and last mile connectivity for the future Express Lane Transit (ELT) system. The funding will accelerate planning for multimodal access to the proposed ELT station areas.
